A new book group just for True Crime fans!

Are you hooked on Forensic Files?

Do you love true crime podcasts such as My Favorite Murder and True Crime Garage?

Does your sister think it's weird that you only watch documentaries about murder?

Then True Crime Library is the group for you.

True Crime Library is a new book group at the Palmer Branch!

We meet at the Palmer Branch on the third Thursday every other month at 6:00pm. For each meeting we select a case and participants can read any book on the case. At the meeting, we'll discuss different perspectives of the case based on our readings.

Upcoming meetings are as follows:
May 16 - Children of Serial Killers
June 20 - Amanda Knox
July 18  - JonBenet Ramsey
August 15 - "Life After Death" (Body Farms, Medical Examiners, etc.)
September 19 - Scott Peterson

Want to get email updates about True Crime Library? Sign up for our email newsletter! You'll get periodic emails with meeting reminders and group updates!

The Palmer Branch welcomes Barbara J. Taylor!

The Palmer Branch is excited to host Scranton author Barbara J. Taylor at our next Palmer Adult Book Group meeting!

We'll discuss Ms. Taylor's 2014 debut book, Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night, and have a Q&A with the author! Ms. Taylor's second book, All Waiting is Long, is a 2016 release that picks up sixteen years after the end of her debut book.

Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night was called the Best Book of Summer 2014 by Publisher's Weekly and earned lots of praise from several book review magazines and blogs.

We hope you'll join us on Tuesday, June 27 at 6pm at the Palmer Branch to meet and talk with this amazing author! Contact the Palmer Branch (610-258-7492) for more information or if you're interested in attending. You can also RSVP on our Facebook Event page.

"Forever Young... Adult" Book Group!

Are you an adult who enjoys reading teen and young adult books?

Do you still feel like an angsty teenager at heart?

Do you ever feel shamed by friends who are reading more "adult" books and think you should too?

Do you wish you had a place to talk about the YA books you read (and love)?

Then join us at the "Forever Young... Adult" Book Group!

We offer a safe place to discuss your addiction to YA books (we we consider to be a totally healthy and justifiable addiction, by the way). Join Katie and Ashley as we discuss pre-selected titles from a (semi) adult perspective.

We meet the third Wednesday of every month (except December) at 6pm at the Palmer Branch.

Join us at any of our upcoming meetings! No need to register... just show up! We have print copies of book selections available at both library branches, and also as e-books available through Overdrive, the library's e-book service.

Some of the books we've discussed include:

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Asking for It by Louise O'Neill

Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok

Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke

Dear Martin by Nic Stone

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
